eFAST ULTRASOUND COURSE – 22 November 08:00 – 9:30, ROOM Atlantic 3

The Extended Focused Assessment using Sonography in Trauma (eFAST) is a sonographic examination that can be incorporated in the evaluation of patients with blunt or penetrating trauma.

The basic FAST exam assesses four standardised ultrasound views along the chest and abdomen, making use of gravity-dependent regions to rapidly identify intraperitoneal and/or pericardial fluid.

The extended FAST includes the additional evaluation of the anterior and lateral pleural spaces to evaluate for pneumothorax or pleural fluid, presumed to be a haemothorax until proven otherwise in the setting of trauma. A scan is deemed positive if any free fluid is visualised. However, it is important to note that a negative scan does not rule out internal bleeding.

Max number of participants: 30

Survival Games – 22 – 23 November 08:00, ROOM Danube

“Survival Games” is an innovative laparoscopic training course in emergency surgery, designed for colleagues who want to improve their skills and be ready for challenges in laparoscopic emergency surgery. This unique program combines hands-on training and assessment of participants through a series of challenging scenarios, allowing them to test and expand their knowledge in real-world conditions. During the course, participants will face a variety of emergency simulations, which will require speed, precision, and expertise in decision-making.

LapSim is a next-generation simulator, which is designed to, using VR (virtual reality) technology, an intuitive interface, as well as clear parameters for evaluating participants, creates a clear path to improving technical skills. As a high-fidelity simulator, it provides tactile feedback, highly realistic graphics, thus creating a rich immersion experience in the laparoscopic training process in emergency surgery.

Course will be realized in 3 levels of surgical interventions, from basic to advanced. The evaluation aspect of the course emphasizes the competitive atmosphere – each participant will be evaluated on the basis of their performance.

At the end of the course, a winner will be announced, who will receive a special prize and recognition for outstanding skills. “Survival Games” is a unique opportunity to improve your knowledge and gain additional confidence in solving emergencies through laparoscopic surgery.
